Tokyo: Japan is on track to become the fifth country in the world in the race to reach the moon. According to international news agencies, the Japanese mission, which set off three months ago in September, has successfully entered the orbit of the moon.
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) states that the mission sent to the moon has achieved significant success. Although the mission has successfully entered the lunar orbit, it will not land immediately. For the next month, the mission will continue orbiting the moon, and then attempts will be made for landing.

Named “Smart Lander for Investigating Moon” (SLIM), this mission consists of a small spacecraft and a lander with a weight of 200 kilograms. The primary objective of this mission is to demonstrate the capability of pinpoint landing within 100 meters of the selected landing site. The Japanese mission aims to attempt landing near a small crater named Shioli in the equatorial region of the moon.
It is noteworthy that before Japan, missions from the United States, Russia, China, and India had successfully landed on the lunar surface.
