Govt. Preparing to Drop Another Electricity Bomb on Inflation-Burdened Public

Islamabad: The government has once again prepared to drop an electricity bomb on the public already burdened by inflation.

According to reports, there is a possibility of an increase of Rs. 4.66 per unit in the electricity price. In this regard, a request has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA).

According to NEPRA, the CPPA has requested an increase of Rs. 4.66 per unit in the price in line with the November Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA). NEPRA will conduct a hearing on CPPA’s request on December 27.

As a result of NEPRA’s approval of the request, consumers will bear an additional burden of Rs. 40 billion on electricity bills. The potential increase may not apply to K-Electric consumers.
