Islamabad: The Pakistan Bar Council has stated that the current conduct of the Election Commissioner is raising concerns for transparent and fair general elections in the country.
According to the announcement, the Pakistan Bar Council mentioned that under the supervision of Sikandar Sultan Raja, the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, general elections in the country cannot be transparent and fair. They stated that in his native district of Jhelum, two seats of the National Assembly have been allocated for a population of 1,382,000, while in the city of Hafizabad with a population of 1.3 million, one seat in the National Assembly has been assigned.
The Pakistan Bar Council’s announcement highlighted that a similar imbalance is evident in the distribution of seats in the Rawalpindi district. There is a lack of consideration for population ratios in Gujranwala as well, and an additional seat in the National Assembly has been added without adjusting for population ratios. This is the reason why the conduct of the Chief Election Commissioner, Sikandar Sultan Raja, is causing concerns for the elections.

The Pakistan Bar Council expressed strong reservations about the delimitation of constituencies, electoral procedures, and seats under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.
