Sanam Javaid to Contest Against Maryam Nawaz in General Elections

Lahore: Incarcerated PTI activist Sanam Javaid will contest against the senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz, in the upcoming General Elections from Lahore’s provincial assembly seat.

Sanam Javaid is currently in custody along with many other PTI activists and members due to their alleged involvement in the May 9 incidents that took place after the arrest of the former PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

The father of PTI worker Sanam Javaid revealed that she will submit nomination papers from Lahore’s constituency PP-150 to participate in the general elections scheduled for February 8 next year.

He stated that Sanam, detained in jail, will participate in the elections on PTI’s ticket and emphasized that she will also collect nomination papers for a specific women’s seat.

The father mentioned, “We are in the process of gathering documents to file her nomination papers.”

On the other hand, PML-N leader Maryam has not yet confirmed from which constituency she will participate in the elections. The parliamentary board of the Muslim League-N is currently holding sessions to conduct interviews for party tickets.

According to the election schedule, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is expected to begin receiving nomination papers from hopeful candidates on December 20. As per the Election Act 2017, after the swearing-in ceremony of District Returning Officers (DROs) and Returning Officers (ROs), this process is set to commence today (Tuesday).
