Vatican City: The spiritual leader of Christians, Pope Francis, has stated that Israel is employing acts of terrorism in Gaza, where an Israeli sniper simultaneously shot down two women, identified as Nahida Khalil Anton and her daughter Samar Anton.
Pope Francis condemned the killing of two Christian women who were shot down by Israeli snipers while they were inside a church, expressing deep sorrow during his weekly prayer ceremony. The mother-daughter duo was brutally murdered during a prayer service. Additionally, seven other individuals were injured when they attempted to shield others from gunfire.
The Pope remarked that he is receiving extremely distressing and painful news from Gaza, where densely populated areas are being targeted with aerial bombings and gunfire. He emphasized that the Holy Family parish Complex has also been affected, where there are no terrorists but rather families, children, sick or disabled individuals, and nuns. Some may argue it is a war, but for others, it is terrorism.
“I continue to receive very grave and painful news from Gaza. Unarmed civilians are the objects of bombings and shootings. And this happened even inside the Holy Family parish complex, where there are no terrorists, but families, children, people who are sick or disabled, and nuns,” Pope Francis said.
“Some would say ‘It is war. It is terrorism.’ Yes, it is war. It is terrorism,” he added.
It is worth noting that after the Israeli forces killed the Christian mother and daughter, they also destroyed fuel tanks, and the generator, which was the church’s sole source of power, and caused injuries to individuals within the church by dropping explosives and shooting.
