London: In the United Kingdom, the most commonly chosen name for newborn boys for the year 2023 is once again ‘Muhammad,’ according to a survey report.
According to the findings of a recent survey in Britain, the name ‘Muhammad’ is the most popular among newly born boys. A report in a British newspaper indicates that in a survey conducted over the past year, it has been revealed that the frequency of naming newborn boys ‘Muhammad’ in Muslim families is unusually high compared to other names.
Data from the survey indicates that in the UK, 24 out of every 100 boys are given the name ‘Muhammad,’ while other Muslim names such as Ali, Ahmad, Abdullah, Musa, Omar, and Hamza are also popular. Similarly, for girls, while the name Olivia is the most popular, other popular names include the traditional Islamic names Fatima, Maryam, Aisha, and Zehra, while the name Layla remained the most popular name in the past year.
It is worth noting that between 2016 and 2021, the name Muhammad claimed the position as the most popular choice for baby boys in the UK. In 2022, Muhammad regained its status as the top name and retained the title in 2023.
It remains clear that for several years in the United Kingdom, the name ‘Muhammad’ has consistently remained at the forefront of popularity, and most parents use ‘Muhammad’ in combination with their children’s names.
