Peshawar: Incidents of violence against women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have surged by 100% in comparison to last year, according to a report by a private TV channel.
The documents reveal that compared to the previous year, the incidents of violence against women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have witnessed an unusual 100% surge in the ongoing year.
The documents indicate that last year, 2,587 calls were received on the Bolo Helpline in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, until now, a total of 5,465 cases related to violence against women have been reported.
In terms of violence against women cases, Peshawar tops the list in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 581 cases have been reported. Abbottabad follows in the second position with 76 cases. Swabi has 75, Swat 4, Charsadda 60, Bannu 17, Malakand, Mansehra, and Dir have 14 cases each.
The documents reveal that cases have also been reported in other districts of the province, with legal assistance provided to 339 women in various cases. Services referral has been made in 411 cases of violence against women, and psychological counseling has been provided to 879 women.
