Erdogan Asserts Israel Will Face Accountability for Palestinian Oppression Since WWII

Istanbul: On Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asserted that Israel would be held accountable for its long history of oppression against Palestinians, dating back to World War II. Erdogan declared that there would be “no escape” for Israel from facing the consequences of its actions.

During a Cabinet meeting in Ankara, Erdogan condemned the escalating oppression by the Israeli administration, emphasizing that the heavier the oppression, the steeper the price Israel would pay. He predicted that Israeli leaders would eventually face trial in the court of humanity, receive the punishment they deserve, and find their place in the “dustbin of history.”

Erdogan took the opportunity to criticize the United States and Europe for their “unlimited support” to Israel, stating that without such backing, the rulers of the “terrorist state” would not be able to act recklessly.

The Turkish President accused the West of prioritizing its prosperity and being complicit in the brutality witnessed in Gaza, describing their actions as driven by inherent barbaric instincts. Erdogan expressed disappointment in international institutions like the UN Security Council, which he claimed had shown impotence and strayed from being the common roof of humanity.

He specifically mentioned UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, noting that sincere support from Guterres had been thwarted by permanent members of the Security Council. Erdogan strongly condemned the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians, including children and women, by Israel, describing it as wretchedness exclusive to cowardly leaders.

Erdogan concluded by asserting that the only path to peace in the region is the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the borders established in 1967. He expressed hope that the Israeli government would reconsider its actions before facing a more dire fate.

As Israel resumed its military offensive on Palestinian territory, Erdogan’s remarks underscored Turkey’s stance on the issue, aligning with calls for justice and a peaceful resolution to the longstanding conflict.
