Dunedin: Pakistan women’s cricket Team has won the first-ever T20 series against New Zealand after consecutively winning the first two matches of the 3-match series against New Zealand, with the third and final T20 match scheduled to be played on December 9.
In the second T20, the national team secured a decisive victory against New Zealand, winning the series 2-0 by defeating them by 10 runs. Pakistani women, batting first, scored 137 runs in the allotted overs. Muneeba Ali contributed 35 (28), Aliya Riaz scored 32 (22) runs, Bismah Maroof made 21 (26), and Captain Nida Dar played an innings of 14 (14) runs.
In response, New Zealand’s team collapsed at 127 runs while chasing the target of 138 runs. Hannah Rowe contributed 33, and Georgia Plimmer scored 28 runs. From the Pakistan side, Fatima Sana took 3, and Sadia Iqbal took 2 wickets. Aliya Riaz was awarded the Player of the Match.
The third and final T20 match of the series will be played on December 9.
It is worth noting that the Pakistani women’s team, won the first T20 International match of the series by 7 wickets, marking their first successful T20 International against New Zealand women.
