Rawalpindi: On Thursday, General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), chaired the 82nd Formation Commanders Conference at GHQ. Attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers, and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army, the conference aimed to address professional matters, national security challenges, and countermeasures against traditional and non-traditional threats.
The forum paid tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs, acknowledging the contributions of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, and citizens. COAS expressed satisfaction with the operational preparedness and high standards of training maintained by formations in response to emerging threat paradigms.
The forum took a holistic view of the ongoing counter-terrorism operations and resolved that all terrorists, their facilitators, and abettors, working on the behest of hostile forces to destabilise Pakistan would be dealt with the full might of the state.
Expressing solidarity, the participants provided diplomatic, moral, and political support to the people of Palestine, reiterating Pakistan’s principled stance on a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders. Concerns were raised over the oppression of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, condemning human rights violations by Indian forces. The forum emphasized support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination as per relevant UNSC resolutions.
The conference pledged support for the government’s initiatives, addressing economic recovery, combating illegal activities, implementing the One Document Regime, repatriating illegal foreigners, and safeguarding the national database. Despite challenges, the forum noted a growing sense of stability, certainty, and optimism across Pakistan.
The forum urged the people of Pakistan to stay determined and united in the pursuit of enduring stability and security.
