BRICS Summit: Saudi Crown Prince Pushes for Immediate Halt to Gaza Operations, Stresses Two-State Solution

Riyadh: In a virtual summit of the BRICS group held on Tuesday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman emphasized the imperative need for a serious and comprehensive peace process to establish a Palestinian state along the borders of 1967.

According to Arab News, speaking on behalf of Saudi Arabia, the crown prince said, “We demand an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in Gaza.” He underscored that the implementation of international decisions related to a two-state solution is crucial for achieving security and stability in Palestine.

While expressing strong opposition to the enforced displacement of Palestinians, Prince Mohammed called upon all countries to immediately cease exporting arms to Israel. He stated, “We demand an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in Gaza,” highlighting the urgency of addressing the ongoing conflict.

Prince Mohammed further detailed Saudi Arabia’s proactive role in the crisis, citing the Kingdom’s continuous efforts to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip. He specifically called for the immediate entry of aid into the territory to alleviate the humanitarian situation.

The crown prince stated, “The Kingdom has worked tirelessly since the beginning of the crisis to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip and demanded the immediate entry of aid into the territory.”

Saudi Arabia has already dispatched 15 planes carrying various relief aid, including shelter materials, food, and ambulances, to support the Palestinian people in Gaza. In addition to these efforts, the Kingdom has established a sea bridge to facilitate the delivery of aid to the affected population.

Meanwhile, at the same summit, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa accused Israel of war crimes and “genocide” in Gaza. He condemned the collective punishment of Palestinian civilians through what he termed as the unlawful use of force by Israel. President Ramaphosa also criticized the deliberate denial of essential resources such as medicine, fuel, food, and water to the residents of Gaza, equating it to genocide.

The BRICS summit provided a platform for global leaders to address the ongoing crisis in the region and advocate for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The statements made by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman underscore Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting regional stability and advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people.
