Pakistan Announces 18-Member Squad for Test Series Against Australia

Lahore: Chief Selector Wahab Riaz has announced Pakistan’s eighteen-member Test team for the tour of Australia, with Shan Masood leading the squad as captain.

The Pakistan cricket team will play a series of three Test matches from 14th December to 7th January. The first Test is scheduled from December 14 to 18 in Perth, the second Test from 26th December to 30th in Melbourne, and the third Test from 3rd January to 7th in Sydney.

Shan Masood, a 34-year-old left-handed batsman, will captain the Pakistan Test team for the first time. He has been entrusted with the leadership responsibility for the World Test Championship 2025, taking over from Babar Azam, who stepped down from the Test captaincy last week.

The Pakistani eighteen-member squad includes:

Shan Masood (captain), Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), Saud Shakeel and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Cricket Australia (CA) has decided that every Test match played at Perth Stadium will now be called the ‘The West Test.’ which will apply to the Test series between Australia and Pakistan. The second match of the series will be called the Boxing Day Test.
