San Francisco: Technology company Google and instant messaging application WhatsApp have announced a change in their policy regarding chat backups.
According to news agencies, both companies have revealed that significant changes will be introduced in the future. After this, WhatsApp chat history, including images and videos, will be stored on Google Drive storage (free 15 GB available).
Later, in case of low remaining or exhausted storage, users will need to delete unnecessary large-sized files or media from their WhatsApp to create space in their Google Drive storage. Additionally, users will also have the option to purchase additional storage in Google Cloud Storage.
According to WhatsApp, this feature will be presented to beta users for testing in December. However, for Android users, this change will be implemented in the first half of 2024 and will notify users 30 days in advance.
