‘Occupying Gaza will be a Big Mistake’: Biden tells Netanyahu

Washington: President Joe Biden of the United States has said that he made it clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the two-state solution is the only viable resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, and occupying Gaza would be a “big mistake”.

While speaking to journalists at a news conference in San Fransico, U.S. President Biden stated that he “made it clear to the Israelis I think it’s a big mistake for them to think they’re going to occupy Gaza and maintain Gaza,”.

Moreover, the U.S. President said that he is making every possible effort within his power to free those held captive by Hamas in Gaza. However, he clarified that it does not involve sending U.S. troops.

John Kirby announced that the United States had not given approval for Israeli military actions in and around Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. He mentioned that the U.S. is cautious about specific actions related to hospitals and is consistently following the same approach with other Israeli military decisions.

National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby emphasized that the U.S. has clearly conveyed to Israel the need to exercise particular caution concerning hospitals.

It is noteworthy that Hamas has blamed U.S. President Biden for the attacks on Al-Shifa Hospital.
