London: The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, has sacked the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, from her position following her inflammatory remarks about pro-Palestinian protests.
According to international news agencies, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has dismissed Suella Braverman, who held the position of Home Secretary within his cabinet.
Media reports indicate that the removal of the British Home Secretary is part of significant changes within the cabinet, while Braverman faced criticism for the handling of the pro-Palestinian protests in the UK. Suella termed protests advocating Palestinian rights as ‘hate marches’ and accused the UK police of being too lenient towards pro-Palestinian protesters.
Over the weekend, there were clashes between far-right protesters and police officers after the far-right protesters attempted to attack a massive pro-Palestinian procession that moved through London’s streets. Critics pointed fingers at Braverman, attributing part of the blame for fueling the escalating tensions with her.
On the other hand, James Cleverly removed Suella Braverman and appointed David Cameron, the former Prime Minister known for triggering Brexit, for the position of foreign secretary.
The Conservative Party stated that the Prime Minister is strengthening his team within the government for long-term decision-making. They mentioned that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak seeks to make long-term decisions for a brighter future.
