Pakistan’s national cricket team captain Babar Azam has started to contemplate on stepping down from Pakistan Cricket team’s captaincy due to the team’s poor performance during the ongoing World Cup in India.
According to a report, Babar Azam has sought guidance not only from Ramiz Raja (former PCB chairman) but also from his close friends on this matter.
It’s important to note that during the pre-match press conference against England, Babar Azam had expressed disappointment in the behavior of former players and the board’s attitude. On the other hand, some reports suggest that Babar Azam’s close associates have advised him to relinquish the captaincy in all three formats: One Day Internationals, Tests, and T20s.
It’s worth mentioning that Pakistan’s recent cricket journey concluded without reaching the semi-finals of the ongoing World Cup. During this world cup, the Pakistan team under Babar Azam’s captaincy faced setbacks in matches against India, Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan.
