Punjab: Due to Smog Health Emergency Declared in 4 Districts, Including Lahore

Lahore: In Punjab, a health emergency has been declared in four districts, including the provincial capital Lahore, due to smog, and winter vacation has been announced.

According to a report by a private TV channel, the provincial government, in light of the deteriorating situation caused by continuous smog, has announced a winter vacation in Lahore and four other districts on Friday. The government has also enforced a health emergency.

Under the leadership of the caretaker Punjab Chief Minister, an important meeting was held to address the issue of smog. Following the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi, while holding a press conference in the Chief Minister’s House, stated that pollution levels in Lahore have increased significantly, and the lingering effects of crop residue burning in India are contributing to the worsening pollution in Lahore.

A decision was made during the meeting to impose a holiday on November 9 nationwide, and on November 10, a notification for a holiday will be issued in the districts most affected by smog in Punjab. In these affected districts, Section 144 will also be enforced regarding traffic. Furthermore, hotels, parks, and cinemas will remain closed.
