Karachi: Pakistan’s three major auto manufacturers have announced the temporary closure of production plants due to continuous shortages of essential raw materials.
In a statement issued by the Secretary of Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), it was revealed that Honda Atlas Cars and Toyota Indus have announced the temporary suspension of their production operations.
The statement mentioned that due to low inventory, the companies’ management has decided to shut down the automobile plants from October 25, 2023, to October 27, 2023. However, the motorcycle plant will continue its operations.
It’s worth noting that Honda Atlas Cars had also made a similar announcement through their company secretary.
The statement explained that the company’s supply chain in China has been significantly affected by the current level of inventory and shortages of parts, which has severely disrupted operations. As a result, the company is unable to continue production, leading to the plant’s closure from October 24, 2023, to October 31, 2023.
Previously, Indus Motor Company Limited had made a decision to completely close its plant in China between August 25, 2023, and September 6, 2023, due to the barriers in the supply chain.
