Electricity Becomes More Expensive, NEPRA Grants Approval

Islamabad: Adding to the burden of inflation on the people, another electricity bombshell has been dropped as NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) has granted approval to further increase electricity prices.

According to a report from private TV channels, NEPRA has approved an increase of Rs. 1.71 per unit in electricity rates.

NEPRA has also issued a notification regarding the additional increase (Rs. 1.71 per unit) in electricity prices.

The notification issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority states that the recent increase is part of the monthly fuel adjustment. The impact of this Rs. 1.71 per unit increase in electricity prices will be reflected on the upcoming bills for the month of October.

With electricity becoming more expensive, consumers will bear an additional burden of over 22 billion rupees. It should be noted that the recent increase in electricity prices will not apply to lifeline consumers and K-Electric consumers, as mentioned in NEPRA’s notification.
