Cairo: In Egypt, a 20-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl on a high-speed train and named her Shamsa.
According to Arab media, the train was racing at full speed towards its destination when the 20-year-old girl started experiencing labor pains. She began screaming when there was no arrangement on the train to deal with the situation.
According to media reports, the 20-year-old pregnant girl was fortunate in the sense that at the time, a male gynecologist, Dr. Islam Abu Shama, and his wife, a pediatric specialist, were also on the train. Upon seeing the pregnant woman’s condition, they decided to perform the delivery on the train.
On the train, these doctors appealed to the passengers, asking if there was any para-medical staff among them to assist in this difficult moment. This announcement was made in all compartments, and two nurses came forward to help the doctors. The doctors spoke to the driver, who stopped the train temporarily and set up a makeshift delivery room in one of the carriages.
In this temporary labor room, the 20-year-old girl gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Both the mother and the baby are in good health.
Dr. Islam Abu Shama and his wife are being praised on social media, and there are calls for them to be honored nationally.
