Inauguration of Richmond Masjid, a Former Church, First Prayer Observed

Richmond Masjid, now acquired by IFAM (Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims), witnessed its first prayer on August 5, 2023. The historic event drew local community members and families from across Sydney and Canberra, uniting in celebration.

Local Muslim families eagerly embraced this mosque’s establishment, a former unused church acquired by IFAM through a highly successful fundraising campaign. Their enthusiasm was palpable as they expressed gratitude for having a place of worship in their neighborhood.

The new masjid not only allows them to fulfill their Islamic duties and rituals conveniently but also plays a significant spiritual and moral role in their lives, extending to future generations.

IFAM President, Mr. Rais Khan, regarded this event as a divine blessing and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Almighty. He urged everyone to pray for the mosque’s vital role in enriching people’s lives and serving as a cherished Muslim place of worship.

A large gathering of Muslim families convened to observe the Dhuhr prayer, marking the first official prayer. Hafiz Sami Ullah Hussaini led the prayer, followed by a special dua by Mr. Usaid Khalil, Secretary General of IFAM, who invoked Allah’s blessings upon this sacred space and acknowledged the contributions of all those who made this endeavor possible.

The event concluded with all attendees enjoying sweets and cold drinks, basking in the cheerful atmosphere.
