Nawaz Sharif Prolongs Stay in London, Puts off Return to Pakistan

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has postponed his planned return to Pakistan in September after a meeting with his brother Shehbaz Sharif in London.

The brothers agreed that given the potential for early elections in February 2024, it makes sense for Nawaz to delay his homecoming by a few months. Possible new return dates in October or November were proposed.

The decision for Nawaz Sharif to land in Lahore upon his return was also made.

The London talks enabled the exiled leader and his brother to strategize about PML-N’s future direction and role in shaping Pakistani politics ahead of the election.

In the meeting of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, discussions were held on practical political strategies and the future of national politics. Matters related to PML-N’s electoral campaign for the upcoming general elections were discussed, and detailed consultations were conducted on what PML-N’s future narrative would be.
