Jamaat-e-Islami Voices Concern Over President Alvi’s Objection to Bill Safeguarding Honor of Ummahatul Momineen, Ahle-Bait, and Sahaba

Faisalabad: District Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Professor Mahboob-ul-Zaman Butt has expressed concern over President Arif Alvi’s objection to the bill passed by the Parliament prescribing punishment for blasphemy against Companions of Prophet (PBUH). He said the entire nation is worried about the president’s objection and will never accept this decision.

In his response, he said after President Arif Alvi’s signature, the bill was to become a proper law under which anyone using derogatory words against Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) family, wives, his Companions, the four Rightly Guided Caliphs, and other sacred would be liable for legal punishment. But President Arif Alvi ruined his fate by returning the bill, for which he will be punished in this world and the hereafter.

He said the approval of this bill would not have harmed anyone’s person, only the perpetrators of blasphemy would have faced consequences. But instead of pleasing Almighty Allah, Arif Alvi tried to please his foreign masters, due to which he will face humiliation in both worlds.

He said that dishonoring someone is a crime in every law of the world, protecting honor and dignity is accepted in every law of the world, but avoiding declaring blasphemy against prophets and companions as severe a crime is discriminatory treatment regarding religion and sacred personalities, which is regrettable.

He added that it is the responsibility of the caretaker government to play its role in giving this bill legal form and compel the president to immediately sign this bill and fulfill his religious and legal responsibility.
