Panama Papers: SC Fixes Date for Hearing Plea to Release Volume 10 of JIT Report

Islamabad: The Supreme Court has fixed for hearing the petition of Broadsheet LLC seeking issuance of Volume-10 of the Panama JIT report.

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial will hear the case on August 22. The court has issued notices to the Attorney General and other parties in this regard.

In its petition, Broadsheet stated that it had assisted NAB in tracing offshore assets of the Sharif family but NAB did not pay the agreed compensation.

It is pertinent to mention that Broadsheet had filed a case against NAB in a UK court for recovery of dues. It had requested the Supreme Court to order the issuance of Volume 10 of the Panama JIT report. Broadsheet wanted to present Volume 10 as evidence in the UK court.

The company maintained that Volume-10 contains correspondence between NAB and foreign governments regarding tracing foreign assets of the Sharif family. Broadsheet claims it has the right to obtain Volume-10 as per the agreement with NAB.
