Civil Judge’s Wife Arrested for Assaulting 14-Year-Old Housemaid

Islamabad: Islamabad’s district and sessions court made a crucial decision in the case of 14-year-old housemaid Rizwana, who was allegedly assaulted by Somia Asim, the wife of a civil judge. The court dismissed Somia’s interim bail and ordered her immediate arrest, amidst the to public outcry demanding justice for the young victim.

During the hearing, Additional Sessions Judge Farrukh Fareed emphasized the importance of conducting an unbiased investigation, free from any external pressure. Last week, Somia had secured bail, claiming innocence and expressing confidence in the investigation. However, the court rejected her plea, leading to her arrest from the court premises on Monday.

The heart-wrenching case has garnered significant attention. Rizwana, who worked at the residence of the Administrative Officer of Islamabad Judicial Complex, suffered alleged abuse, prompting swift action from the authorities.

The police were directed to apprehend Somia Asim without delay, as Islamabad DIG Shahzada Bukhari ordered his men to ensure she does not evade custody. As the case progresses, the public remains vigilant, seeking justice for the young victim and holding those responsible for such acts of violence accountable.
