Lahore: Following the increase in petroleum products prices, PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) and private airlines have raised their fares. PIA and private airlines, including Air Blue, Serene Air, and Air Sial, have issued new fare lists to travel agents.
According to media reports, there has been an increase in air travel fares due to the rise in petroleum prices. The one-way fare for Lahore and Karachi has been increased from 35,000 to 70,000 rupees.
The sudden surge in fares has caused inconvenience to travelers. The passengers have demanded an inquiry into the matter from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, while airline authorities attribute the fare hike to the difference in demand and supply caused by the increase in fuel prices.
As summer vacations come to an end, there is a surge in the number of travelers, and it is anticipated that fares might see a slight decrease once the situation returns to normal.
