Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng Arrives in Islamabad to Celebrate 10th Anniversary of CPEC Project

Islamabad: Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng arrived in Islamabad to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. As a chief guest, he participated in a government-sponsored ceremony, underscoring the significance of this collaboration under China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the Chinese Vice Premier and the members of his delegation to Pakistan in a tweet stating “It is my pleasure to warmly welcome the Chinese Vice-Premier H.E. He Lifeng and members of his delegation to Pakistan. They are visiting Pakistan to join us in celebrating the 10th anniversary of CPEC and witnessing first-hand the transformations brought about by this game-changing initiative.”

During his visit, He Lifeng met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Dr. Arif Alvi, reaffirming the strong bond between the two countries and their commitment to deepening bilateral ties.

CPEC, launched in 2013, has been a transformative initiative for Pakistan’s infrastructure and economy, with over $25 billion in direct Chinese investment, focusing on modern transportation networks, energy projects, and special economic zones. This mega undertaking has created nearly 200,000 local jobs and added 8,000 megawatts of electricity to the national grid, significantly improving the country’s connectivity and power supply.

The presence of Vice Premier He Lifeng in Pakistan highlights the fruitful results achieved over the past decade, making CPEC a new benchmark for China-Pakistan friendship. Both countries reaffirm their status as “all-weather strategic cooperative partners and iron-clad friends.”
