New Delhi: The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, consisting of 26 parties, has decided to bring a motion of no confidence against Modi. According to reports from international media, the opposition parties have been demanding a discussion in the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Indian parliament) regarding the ongoing civil war in Manipur for the past two weeks, but the government has been evading the issue using various pretexts.
Yesterday, 50 members of the Rajya Sabha (the upper house of the Indian parliament) presented a resolution against the ongoing civil war in Manipur, but the Modi government adjourned the session immediately. In response to the unconstitutional adjournment of the session, opposition leaders have been holding a sit-in protest outside the parliament along with Gandhi’s statue since yesterday.
To pressure the opposition, the Modi government has also suspended the parliamentary membership of the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, Sanjay Singh. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge stated that Modi should rise above personal biases and think for the country.
Upon hearing about the motion of no confidence, Modi in nervousness compared the opposition alliance to the East India Company.
It should be noted that the US State Department had also expressed extreme concern over the horrifying incidents of human rights violations against women in Manipur yesterday while the Modi government is also facing intense pressure from within the country.
