Punjab govt announces summer vacations 2017

LAHORE – Punjab government has announced the schedule for summer vacations which would start on May 22.

The administration has also announced that no summer camps will be allowed in the educational institutes during summer vacations in Punjab and if there is any violation, the license of the violator would be canceled.

Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Masood while issuing directions to all private school owners, said that Punjab government will not give permission to private schools for holding summer camps in the school premises, unless they are offered to students for free and that stern action will be taken against the administration of these schools if they do hold summer against the directions of the government.

He said that Punjab government has formed raid teams that will monitor the schools in summers.

Rana Mashood said that the owners of private schools can take a fee on annual basis instead of charging a lump sum fee of three months from the students.

The education department warned private schools from taking the fee for three months in one go from parents.

Private schools which violate the notification will risk having their registration canceled, the notification said.

Earlier, a notification was issued which stated that the schools in Punjab will remain closed from June 1st to August 14.

But, citing the exceeding heat, the decision has been reviewed and vacations will now start on May 22.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sindh Government had called it quits for schools yesterday due to severe hot weather while Punjab opted to change timings rather than announcing immediate vacations.
