ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Supreme Court has decided to start hearing the case of Mardan lynching from Wednesday, PakistanTribe.com reported.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on April 15 had taken sou motu of the lynching of Mashal Khan and directed the KP police chief to submit a report on the incident.
Based on that report, the CJ decided to move forward with hearings and issued notices to the police chief and the K-P advocate general, Tribune reported.

Mashal Khan, a student of Journalism and Mass Communication at Mardan’s Abdul Wali Khan University, was shot in the head and chest on Thursday and then his body was desecrated by a mob of fellow students which accused him of committing a blasphemy.
On Saturday, the CJP ordered the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s police chief Salahuddin Mehsud to submit a report within 36 hours.

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan also visited the deceased student’s house and said those responsible for his murder will be given exemplary punishment.
During the interview to a local television channel, Mashal raised voice for illegal activities in varsity and shed light on the problems faced by the university.
Mashal highlighted the issue that many of the university officials have more than one charges which is illegal. He also said that the vice chancellor of the university was absent since March 20, that is why many students were facing difficulties getting degrees.
Mashal also pointed out the extra and unfair fee structure the university had imposed on students, which is more than double of th other varsities.
