Muharram moon sighting, Ashura on Oct 12

KARACHI: Muharram moon has been sighted and Ashura will fall on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee by Chairman Mufti announced Sunday.

According to Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, the moon was sighted in certain parts of Pakistan including Dera Allahyar and Khanpur.

Outset of the sacred month also marks the beginning of new Islamic Year.

It is pertinent to mention here that government of KPK has announced public holiday across the province on 1st Muhrram.
