Rain stops play- Pakistan 218/4

SOUTHAMPTON: The play at The Rose Bowl, Southampton has been halted due to rain as Pakistan were looking solid with 218 runs on board with six wickets in hand against England in the first ODI.

Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali won a lucky toss and elected to bat first on a dry pitch.

After taking a good start against English pacers, opener Sharjeel Khan could not convert his form into performance and got out for just 16.

Hafeez too went early after scoring 11.

Azhar succeeded to complete his first half scentury in last 13 innings he played as a captain. Just when he was looking solid, he top edged one from Adil Rasheed which went straight into the hands of Moin Alee.

Babar Ali fell prey of a controversial decision of LBW from umpire. He went back for 40.

With Sarfraz on 51 and Shoaib Malik 14, Pakistan are currently on 218/4 in 42.1 overs.

Good news is that  the drainage at this ground is far better than Trinidad and Durban where two Test matches have lately been washed out.

According to D/L method, if first innings is restricted to 42 over, England would require 260.
