FIA arrests blacklisted US spy entering Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: A US citizen hailed as spy was arrested by Pakistan’s security agencies, allegedly trying to enter the country on fake travel documents, local media reported.

As per officials of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), US citizen named Matthew Craig Barrett entered Pakistan from Rawalpindi’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport through a landing card that carried his wrong credentials.

Barrett was reportedly arrested from Islamabad’s Sector G-8 are and has been taken to undisclosed location for interrogation.

FIA has also arrested the duty office Ehtisham, who Barrett in. A case has been registered against Ehtisham and also against Pakistani Consul in US, Saadia Altaf Qazi.

Barrett, according to local TV channel, Samaa, was blacklisted by Pakistan in 2011 after being captured from a sensitive location in Fateh Jang tehsil of Punjab’s Attock district. He was then deported and his visa cancelled.
