LONDON: Candace Payne s video in Chewbacca mask titled “It’s the simple joys in life…” has so far received over 90 million views and 2 million shares on Facebook , to shatter all the previous records on social media site.
Mrs Payne, who initially went to buy a gift for his son, liked the mask so much that she decided to keep it for herself.
“I’d like to say that I bought this for my son that would really, really want it,” Payne said in the beginning of the livestream.
“However, this is mine. At the end of the day, this is mine that I bought and I’m going to keep it for my own!”
Many of the commenters said they “can’t stop laughing” or how much they loved her “pure inner joy”. Others called it the “happiest video [they’d] ever seen”.
“That’s just crazy,” Mrs Payne told the BBC. “I’m just laughing – in all honesty, that is ridiculous. I’ve looked at the number of views and it just seems like someone is just playing with a calculator.”
It’s a big number: So far, more than 48 million people have watched Payne laugh hysterically as she shows Facebook her new purchase. (Update: As of early Saturday, the video has had 91 million views.)
Previously, the most watched video on Facebook Live was a BuzzFeed video about smashing watermelons, which received over 10 million views.
