Ramadan 2016 likely to begin on June 7

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Friday stated that there is a fair chance for the month of Ramadan to begin on June 7.

According to PMD, the Ramadan moon is expected to be seen on June 6, 1437 A.H, and the holy month will start on June 7.

“Minimum age of the moon for its sighting is 31 hours, and on June 6, it would be 36 hours old. Therefore, it could be seen easily in most of the cities, including coastal belt of Sindh and Balochistan,” Samaa quoted Met Office sources.

He said first day of Ramadan is highly likely to fall on June 7, Tuesday.

The Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman  will be make the formal announcement of the moon sighting.

The committee will meet on Monday (June 6) after Asr prayers at the building of Pakistan Meteorological Department Karachi (Met Complex).
