MQM rejects Rangers’ David arrest claim

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Tuesday claimed that its worker Kashif alias David, who Rangers said was arrested last night, was under the custody of law enforcement agencies for the past few months.

In a statement issued here, MQM termed the Rangers’ claim of arresting Kashif near Nine Zero Monday night as “blatant lie”.

The statement said that the MQM worker was arrested in 2015 from Dubai, adding that some of the print and electronic media covered the arrest of Kashif back then.

It said that the family members of the worker, which police claimed is a most wanted target killer, made efforts at every level in Pakistan and Dubai for the recovery of Kashif.

It further stated the wife of Kashif had also taken part in the sit-in two days ago at Karachi Press Club and talked to media, demanding the release of her husband.

Earlier, Rangers claimed to have arrested Kashif near MQM’s headquarters Nine Zero.

Speaking to reporters, Wing Commander of the Rangers, Colonel Faisal said that Kashif was arrested last night during an operation.

On indication of the suspect, he said that the Rangers also conducted raid at a House in Azizabad area and recovered a huge cache of arms.

The Rangers today produced the suspect in anti-terrorism court and sought a 90-day remand.

The court handed over the suspect to the Rangers on 90-day remand.
