FAISALABAD: Newly appointed national Chief Selector Inzimam ul Haq has stated late Wednesday that players will be picked on merit, and no ‘Phone Call’ will halt it.
Inzimam was exclusively talking to PTV Sports during Pakistan Cup match last night.
Responding a question, Inzimam mentioned that “players have been selected on states previously, it was mainly because the selectors never bothered to watch domestic matches in the ground, rather selected players on states provided.”
“I will not pick anyone on states, will rather observe players on the field. I will consider, in what conditions, on what pitch, under what circumstances and against which bowling lineup the player scored.”
Former Test captain went on to say that currently Pakistan team is lacking quality opener, spinners and solid temperament batsman.
He went on to say that Pakistan has huge talent in the country, but lesser fitness levels, which effects our players’ performances.
Inzimam further mentioned that in form of Pakistan Cup, PCB has provided a platform for local players  to perform and get attract selectors.
