LAHORE: Newly-appointed Chief Selector Pakistan cricket team Inzimam ul Haq has backed his former team mate and star player Shahid Afridi saying he is ‘national hero.’
While talking to media in Lahore, Inzimam ul Haq was of the opinion that Shahid Afridi has served Pakistan cricket for 20 years, and has many match winning performance under his belt.
“Shahid has served Pakistan for 20 years, he was and he is hero of Pakistan. Though, his recent performances are not up to mark, but it happens with every player in long careers, he is our hero and needs complete support,” responded Inzimam to reporter’s question regarding Afridi’s place in the team.
inzimam also announced his selection panel, comprising of a a spinner (Tausif Ahmed) a Fast bowler (Wasim Haider) and a batsman (Wajahatullah Wastee).
He urged nation to back his panel and hope for good. He also mentioned that things well get better from here, but not ‘very soon.’
