LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan has confirmed that former Test captain Inzimanm ul Haq has been confirmed as national Chief Selector, announcement will be made on Monday.
According to Geo News sources, the ‘matters of conflict’ between Inzimam-ul-Haq and Pakistan board have been sorted out and he is set to join his post from Monday.
PCB has accepted his including full authority, under which he will be allowed to choose one selector from each province for Selection Committee.
On his demand, PCB has also agreed to give captain and head coach a role in selection.
The official announcement will be made when Inzimam joins the post from Monday.
On the other hand, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has also agreed to release Inzimam as head coach earlier than contract validity date which end in September 2016.
President Afghan board had earlier showed a sign of dislikeness when Inzimam contacted him on phone Saturday morning to inform his appointment in PCB as Chief Selector, but later agreed when Shahryar Khan interfered.
“Inzi had a good time with us, our boys learnt a lot from him, but it is part of game, we have to move on and find a new coach for them,” said Afghan board president Omar Zakhilwal.
