Team is in High Spirits, working towards Pak India series: Sheharyar Khan

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Sheharyar Khan stated that Pakistan Cricket Team is in high spirits and next two matches are very important for us. He addressed a press conference at Pakistan Sports Board, Lahore.

He said that, “Indian team is one of the best and it is a tough target to beat.” Our Women’s team has proved that they are a strong international team. Fans want us to win against India when we play against them but this is a sport and sometime we lose and sometimes we win. We have a good run rate in the current T20 World Cup and one more match may take us into semi-final.

He said that from players to management everyone is responsible for winning matches. He expressed that, “Pak vs India is The Sporting Event and we are working toward a bi-lateral series in September”, however, Indian Government is reluctant. Afirid has single handedly secured several matches in the past.

“Afridi faces heavy criticism whenever he fails to perform but he has many important victories to his credit,” he added, “Afridi is planning to retire after this world cup and he will decide about his captaincy if he decides to continue after the World Cup.”

Khan said that he will not talk about Captain or Management during the World Cup, they have been assigned a responsibility and they are working for it. Afridi is an iconic player and this is why we selected him for captaincy.

Speaking to the press he said that ICC security team gave security clearance to Pakistan and we are hopeful for a successful bi-lateral series with India. We have beaten India time and again despite the fact that we lost eleven times in World Cup, we are looking forward to the future series and focusing on defeating them in the future.

Waseem Akram is a good option for Coach and we are also looking at international options. We are considering different options from Pakistan and foreign countries and Waseem Akram also agreed that Pakistan Cricket Team would benefit from a culture shock. Imran Khan is a cricketing legend and he met the team to boost national team’s moral and his visit was very useful for the team, Khan added.
