Afridi no more captain after WT20: Sheharyar

KOLKATA: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Sheharyar Khan has once again gained media attention for his controversial against captain and coach after team’s defeat against India.

Sheharyar Khan stated that Shahid Afridi will no more be captain after World Twenty20 irrespective of how team performs in next two matches.

He made this statement during his interview with renowned British News website, BBCUrdu.com in India.

He was also unhappy with head coach Waqar Younis for his coaching and stated that his future will too be decided after the mega event.

“Waqar Younis’ coaching has not been so effective for the team, which unfortunate. His contract is to end in June this year ahead of England series, we’ll look into this matter after Mega event.”

PCB chief criticised team selection for the game against India and said, an extra spinner should have been played on this square-turner track.

“If three pacer can’t win you match, even fourth won’t do that. On a track like that, we must have used our spin options.”

Earlier, after a poor run in Asia Cup 2016, Sheharyar Khan had taken notice of ‘bad team selection’ and had hinted to dissolve selection committee after fact finding committee (comprising of Misbah ul Haq, Younis Khan, Shakeel Sheikh and Intikhab Alam) presents its report.

On the other hand, PCB chairman is being widely criticised from former players and sports analysts for his ‘bad-timing’ interview and demoralizing statements against his own team during the mega event.
