SHARJAH: Lahore Qalandars have stolen a victory from Peshawar Zalmi after a neck-to-neck fight in 15th encounter of Pakistan Super League in Sharjah.
After winning the toss, Zalmi skipper Shahid Afridi elected to field first, the decision proved perfect for him when left-arm wuikc Juniad Khan removed Gayle for naught in first over.
Qalandars’ skipper Azhar Ali and Delport rebuilt the innings with slower pace and the in the last part of the innings, Umar Akmal and Delport took charge on Zalmi as Azhar was removed for 25 in 9th over.
With Umar Akmal (54*) and Cameron Delport (78), Qalandars succeeded to post a total of 164/3Â on the board, their, second best total of the league so far.
They together had put 100 runs partnership for the third wicket before Delport depart for 78 in last over.
Zalmi in reply were very strong, but losing Hafeez in 5th over and then Tamim in 7th, it was a wake up call for Zalmi.
They kept losing wickets at regular interval. David Malan was the only man shining from Zalmi who made 42 of 35 balls before he was run out in second last over.
Lahore Qalandars won in the end by just 4 runs.
