DUBAI: Courtesy to Luke Wrights’ brilliance, Quetta Gladiators beat giant-looking Islamabad United by 8 wickets to win the opener of Pakistan Super League.
After winning the toss on a good-looking surface, Sarfraz gambled to put Islamabad to bat and this prove way to good.
After the collapse of Islamabad United’s top order, Rusell and Misbah managed to put their team on track and Russell’s inning helped United to set a decent target for Quetta Gladiators.
Russell scored 35 runs in just 20 balls and Misbah put 41 runs in team total. Star players of Islamabad United failed to perform well in first match of Pakistan’s first T20 league.
Shane Watsone, Sharjeel Khan, Umar Amin, Babar Azam and Billings lost their wickets at the total of 32 runs.
Watson scored 15 while Sharjeel Khan added just 10 runs in team total. Billings, who will kept wickets for Islamabad United, scored just two runs for his team.
Gladiators’ spinners, specially Rawalpindi’s Nawaz Ali totally stunned Misbah-XI, he grabbed four-for to restrict a great batting side on just 128 runs.
Quetta in reply were very strong. Their openers began to send straight messages to the opponents. English allrounder Luke WRIGHT was very impressive with his batting tonight.
He scored 86 and carried the bat along with the match.
It was a huge win, a great game, a confidence booster for young-gladiator Sarfraz who fought his team excellently in the field!
However, Nawaz Ali was picked Man of The Mach for his awesome spell of 13-4 and 22 runs (not out).
