WELLINGTON: So the stage has been set for first of three mighty One day International (ODI) clashes between Pakistan and New Zealand but a bad news has hit Green Shirt’s camp that their premier all rounder and back bone of middle order batting Shoaib Malik is out due to foot injury.
There are reports that Asad Shafiq will replace him in first ODI.
It will be great challenge for Green Shirts after losing a T20 series brutally, Azhar Ali will lead the Pakistani squad in ODIs.
Earlier in series decider T20 match at Wellington New Zealand, while batting first had put a mammoth total of 196 runs, to which Pakistan failed to pursue and fell 95 runs short to the required total- This is Pakistan’s worst ever defeat in terms of runs.
Pakistan lost T20 series with margin of 2-1 but both contests which Green Shirts lost were with heavy margins which somehow has let Pakistan down but win in the first match will bring them back to winning track for which Pakistani skipper Azhar Ali is very hopeful.
Pakistan Expected XI:Â Azhar Ali, Mohammad Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Rizwan, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, Sarfraz Ahmed, Anwar Ali, Imad Wasim, Babar Azam and Mohammad Irfan.
New Zealand Expected XI: Kane Williamson, Martin Guptill, Tom Latham, Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Grant Elliott, Matt Henry, Colin Munro, Adam Milne, Santner.
Match will start at 22:00 GMT and 03:00 PST.
