Ian Chappell demands to impose worldwide ban on Chris Gayle

SYDNEY: Former Australian cricketer Ian Chapeppel has demanded to impose worldwide ban on star cricketer Chris Gayle over his controversial remarks for Australian journalist  during a recent Big Bash League match.

Legendary cricket suggested that Cricket Australia (CA) should propose worldwide ban on left-handed aggressive batsman  over his controversial TV interview with Channel 10 journalist Mel McLaughlin.

Chappell said CA need to show zero-tolerance towards the “totally inappropriate” behaviour.

“I wouldn’t have a problem if Cricket Australia said to the clubs, ‘he’s never to be contracted again in this country’,” Chappell was quoted as saying by the Australian Associated Press.

“And I also wouldn’t have a problem if Cricket Australia said to the ICC, ‘what we’re doing should be worldwide.’

West Indian Opener Chris Gayle has caught himself into a controversy after his remarks on Live TV coverage for sports presenter Mel McLaughlin during the Big Bash League encounter, The News Tribe.com learnt from International Media.

Earlier, Chris Gayle’s team in Big Bash League ‘The Melbourne Renegades’ on Tuesday has announced Gayle had been slapped with the fine of $10,00 but would not be suspended from playing.

The money from Gayle’s fine will be donated to the McGrath Foundation in recognition of Jane McGrath Day at the Sydney Cricket Ground today.
