DUBAI: International Cricket Council has issued new rankings in all three formats at the end of 2015, and Pakistani leggie, who was recently banned from ICC for testing positive a banned substance, has ended on fourth position in Test bowler’s ranking.
Yasir Shah, who had taken third place in Test bowler’s rankings, lipped one place down to fourth as England’s Stuart Broad snatched his place with his brilliant performance.
According to latest rankings, Australian skipper Steve Smith and India off-spinner R Ashwin have finished 2015 as the ICC’s top-ranked Test batsman and bowler respectively. Ashwin finished as the No. 1 ranked Test allrounder as well, for the second time in three years.
While Smith leapfrogged Kane Williamson, Joe Root and AB de Villiers to the top, Ashwin achieved the No. 1 rank by unseating Dale Steyn, who could only bowl 3.5 overs in the second innings of the Durban Test against England.
In the ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen, Williamson, Root, de Villiers, Smith and David Warner had a chance to finish the year as the No 1 ranked Test batsman after they were separated by 26 points in the lead up to the final Tests of the year.
While Williamson was busy in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Root scored 24 and 73, de Villiers made 49 and 37 and Warner chipped in with 23 and 17.
Test captain Misbah ul Haq (9th) and Younis Khan (6th) are also among top ten Test players.
