Brendon McCullum retires from international cricket

Brandon-McCullum

AUCKLAND: New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum on Tuesday has announced his retirement from international cricket and cleared that he would not be playing ICC T20 World Cup 2016.

McCullum will play his last Test career game against Australia at Hagley Oval on February 20.

In a statement McCullum went on saying  that “I have always be loving playing for Black Caps, but all best things have to come to an end, I am thankful to my country for providing me a chance for this wonderful experience.”

Following the announcement Kane Williamson is expected to captain the team at the T20 World Cup 2016 in India.

Brendon McCullum made Test debut against South Africa in Hamilton in 2004 as a low order batsman. In his career’s 99 Test games he scored 6279 runs which is the second highest on the New Zealanad Test top-runner list, just after former captain Stephen Fleming  who hammered 7172 runs.
