ISLAMABAD: Balochistan chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawab Sanaullah Zehri will take over the chief ministership of Balochistan for the next two-and-a-half year, a high-level meeting presided by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif decided on Thursday.
According to details, the meeting was held at Balochistan House in Islamabad, which was attended by federal ministers, outgoing chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and PkMAP chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
Nawab Sanaullah Zehri also attended the second half of meeting.
The meeting decided to instate Zehri as CM Balochistan for next two-and-a-half year.
As the news broke, Nawab Sanaullah Zehri’s supporters and PML-N activists started celebrations in Quetta.
Sources told that after the appointment of new CM, the provincial cabinet will also be shuffled and the process is likely to be completed in a week.
Dr Abdul Malik Baloch was elected unopposed to the position of Chief Minister Balochistan in June 2013.
Under the ‘Murree Accord’, Dec 4 this year was supposed to be the last day of Dr Malik Baloch as chief minister, following which a Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) nominee was to take over for the next two-and-a-half years.
