RAWALPINDI: A Die Hard Jiala of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Qazi Sultan Mehmood on Wednesday has passed away at the age of 66 in Rawalpindi, District of Punjab, Pakistan.
According to details, Co-Chairman PPP and former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has condoled the death of Qazi Sultan Mehmood.
In a condolence message former President said that ‘Qazi Sultan Mehmood was a prominent party leader who served the party with zeal and dedication. During Ziaul Haq dictatorship he was severely tortured and imprisoned for years but did not flinch from struggling for democracy.’
Sultan held several important office portfolios of party including general secretary Rawalpindi city and division. He was a member of Central Executive Committee of party. He was a lifelong member of Pakistan Peoples Party and will be greatly missed by the leadership and workers of Pakistan Peoples Party.’
Former President prayed for eternal peace for the deceased soul and courage to family members to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
Mahmood was born in Pind Malkan on the outskirts of Islamabad and never married.
