Islamabad’s first mayor will be from PMLN: Hamza Shahbaz

ISLAMABAD: Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Hamza Shahbaz Sharif invited Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan to work together for the betterment of Islamabad.

Shahbaz Sharif claimed that Mayor of District Islamabad will belong to PML-N. “Independent winners are also member of PML-N,” he added.

On the other hand, Senior leader of PTI, Asad Umar said that Mayor will be from PTI as they challenged the results of nine Union Councils.

According to details, The UCs that PTI has challenged include UC13 Humak, UC20 Alipur, UC22 Chak Shahzad, UC30 G-7-3-4, UC 34 G-9-3-4, UC49, UC 42 I-10-1 and 4.

PTI has also challenged vote-recounting in UC32 and verification of thumb impression in UC 44.

According to unofficial results, the PML-N won 21 seats while the PTI got 15 and independents pocketed 14 seats of the union councils. The results of three union councils were withheld due to various reasons. The union councils, from where PML-N candidates won, included UC-5, UC-18, UC-24, UC-45, UC-48, UC-49 and those won by the PTI include UC-29, UC-36 and UC-37.
